Christophe Lartilleux, the founder and leader of the group Latcho Drom has returned to his Gypsy roots, while still retaining the originality which made his name. Under the watchful eye of his gypsy grandmother (photo on jacket), Christophe Lartilleux has widened his Djagno Reinhardt repertory to include amazing hits of the seventies: Michel Polnareff, Serge Gainsbourg, Moon Martin, Abba, etc. Still loyal to his origins but venturing to new horizons, Christophe Lartilleux proves that the Gypsy heritage is not only a repertoire, but is a true work of art, a fine example of reappropriation.

Christophe Lartilleux, fondateur et animateur du groupe Latcho Drom s’est recentré sur sa famille pour retourner aux sources de ses origines manouches – sans pour autant négliger l’originalité et la diversité des influences qui a fait sa réputation sur la scène Gypsy actuelle. Sous le regard exigeant de sa grand-mère manouche (en photo sur la couverture du disque), Christophe Lartilleux élargit le répertoire consacré par Django Reinhardt et intronise de son swing d’étonnants tubes des années 1970 : Michel Polnareff, Serge Gainsbourg, Moon Martin, Abba… Entre fidélité aux racines et désir de conquérir des horizons nouveaux, Christophe Lartilleux rappelle ici que le patrimoine gitan n’est pas seulement un répertoire mais aussi une véritable facture, un rappel d’identité, un génie de la réappropriation.
