Après les fans de Star Wars, voici un fan de Star Trek qui n’a pas hésité à laisser exploser son compte en banque et son imagination pour créer sa salle de cinéma personnelle ultime. Il lui a fallu pas moins de 4 ans de reflexions intenses et de travaux forcés en collaboration avec Acoustic inovations, pour aboutir à cette salle home-cinéma dédiée ressemblant au maximum à l’intérieur du Starship Enterprise NCC-1701A. Notez qu’ils ont fait ça en grand, puisque comme au cinéma, on peut s’installer tranquillement au bar avant que la séance ne débute.

Oh boy que c’est gore… J’adore! Regardez moi ce taille crayon effroyable à souhait. Si vous n’avez pas compris le principe (c’est grave quand même), en gros, vous lui transpercez l’oeil avec votre crayon et vous appuyez sur un bouton derrière sa tête pour sortir la chapelure.

Yes, you read it right. This electric guitar is worth €2,500,000 (US $3,598,002) because it’s made of pure cocaine. A 30-something guy flew from Costa Rica to Fiumicino airport in Rome with a guitar (a black Squier Strat, with the label still on the scratch plate) and 10 thermos flasks in his luggage. The custom officials spotted white powder leaking out of the guitar that was tested positive for cocaine. Even the thermos flasks contained cocaine in solution. The so-called music enthusiast was carrying a total of 3 kg of pure cocaine, having a market value of more than 2.5 million Euros.

En comparaison, c'est plus que les cofondateurs de Yahoo! , Jerry Yang et David Filo .  
   
Qui sait ou l'aventure Facebook va s'arrêter ?    
   
Dans quelques années, si ça continue comme ça, Mark Zuckerberg pourrait bien faire parti des 20 plus grosses fortunes mondiales.

This is a wood framing technology, originally from Japan. Essentially a small group of untrained people can erect an entire house frame in 1-3 days, depending on the size of the structure. Thanks to qureyoon for the submit. Seems not really stable, though.

A 13th century Quran has been sold for a record price at the Christie’s auction house on Tuesday. This copy of Quran, written in 1203, is believed to be the oldest known complete copy. The holy book was expected to sell for up to $715,000 but, it went beyond expectations and went under the hammer for a whopping US $2,327,300. This was a record auction price for a Quran or any type of Islamic manuscript. The holy book is transcribed in gold. Other than this, a nearly complete, 10th-century Kufic Quran, thought to be from North Africa or the near East, was auctioned for $1,870,000.

A few days back, we were talking about the plane fanatic who created a Boeing 747 Flight Simulator inside his bedroom and now, a Nigerian college student built his own helicopter from an old Toyota car engine and scavenged parts from a Boeing 747 that crashed near his town of Kano. Mubarak Muhammad Abdullahi, aged 24, has already taken his DIY helicopter to the skies four times. He is now constructing a new model based on a motorcycle engine and claims it to fly for hours at the low attitude of 15 feet. His DIY helicopter comprises a push-button ignition, an accelerator lever between the seats to control vertical thrust, and a joystick for balance and bearing.  
 
 
 
A camera positioned underneath the helicopter offers the ground vision on a small screen on the dashboard. The brightness of the screen is controlled by a set of six buttons. The helicopter also has a small transmitter to be used for communication. The DIY helicopter is power-driven by a second-hand 133 horsepower Honda Civic car engine while the seats are taken from an old Toyota saloon car. Other parts come from the remains of a Boeing 747 which crashed near Kano some years ago.  
 
 
The four-seater aircraft measures 39 feet long, seven meters high and five feet wide. Abdullahi cited that he watched action movies a lot and was fascinated by the way choppers fly so, he decided to make one on his own. Hats off to the chap!

CHANEL annonce une nouvelle bicyclette pour cet hiver.
 
 
Gabrielle Chanel aurait sûrement succombé au plaisir de se balader dans Paris avec le premier vélo édité par la maison de Haute Couture, qui par ailleurs est la première dans l’histoire de la mode à avoir décliné une collection de vêtements et accessoires dans l’esprit du sport.
 
 
 
Les éléments de la bicyclette ont été confectionnés en atelier par les artisans de CHANEL qui ont pris le soin d’adapter une sacoche ornée de la chaînette, une pompe et une housse de selle en cuir matelassé. Le vélo qui affiche tout de même 16,5kg est équipé de jantes renforcées, d’un anti-vol intégré au cadre, d’une dynamo et le confort de pneus increvables à bandes réfléchissantes sur le côté.
 
 
Prévu pour fin Décembre, il sera une alternative glamour au vélib’ à 8900€.

Pour la première livraison de l’Airbus A380 hier, Libération publiait sur son site web une “panographie” de l’avion. En première classe, c’est tout joli, avec des lits qui font rêver, des plateaux repas qui donneraient presque faim et un asiatique qui n’a pas l’air content. En “super first class”, des suites privées et des lits doubles avec des pétales de roses dessus. Si. Et même, comble du luxe, des toilettes avec des fenêtres.
 
 
Mais pour ce qui concerne la quasi totalité des voyageurs, on n’a toujours pas répondu à la lancinante question: “quand le mec devant il baisse son siège, on met où les jambes des gens qui mesurent plus d’un mètre soixante dix ??” Hein ? Voilà, c’est dit, Panographie glamour ou pas. Toc.

Les hypochondriaques ne vont pas être contents: le MIT fait actuellement des recherches sur la fabrication de nano-matériaux en assemblant … des virus (faites plus nano que ça, hein).
 
 
Pour l’instant, ça donne des “fibres de virus” capables de s’illuminer en rouge quand on les met sous de la lumière UV, soit un truc totalement inutile pour qui n’a pas pour principale occupation de faire le malin en boite de nuit.
 
 
Mais demain, le MIT l’anticipe, grâce aux virus, on fera des vêtements-batterie, des vêtements capables tout seuls d’identifier des attaques chimiques et bactériologiques, des vêtements pour stocker de l’énergie solaire … Reste que pour convaincre monsieur tout le monde de porter un pull tricoté avec un cousin de la rubéole, il faudra sans doute plus que des vêtements qui changent de couleur selon la lumière.
 
 
Déjà qu’on avait pris une paire années à se débarasser des t-shirts qui changeaient de couleur selon la température du corps …
